My professional career began in New York City in the late 1990s where I worked at two of Manhattan’s premier studio facilities: Right Track Recording and Sear Sound. My experience in NYC was invaluable as I learned the studio business from the ground up, and it exposed me to many different genres of music and production styles, often from some of the most talented and successful people in the industry.
In 2007-08 I spent some time in Austin, TX while working on an album for singer/songwriter Ben Kweller. Having made some good connections in Austin, and seeking a change of scenery in my personal life, I decided to move there permanently in 2009. Starting over in a new town (in a declining music industry) presented a challenge, but before long I began to carve out a niche for myself, cultivating relationships with a number of area musicians and studios.
In 2011 I worked on a console installation and studio expansion at Bismeaux Studio, home of Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel. In 2013 I got the call that they needed a regular engineer and I took the gig, running sessions at Bismeaux until the studio closed for commercial purposes in 2018 (though I continue to work for Ray). In recent years I’ve been working frequently with hit songwriter Bruce Robison at his analog studio outside Lockhart, TX, engineering sessions for some of the best established and up-and-coming artists in Texas for Bruce’s platform, The Next Waltz.
